hiatus hair co. is a place where everyone is welcome!
<about me>
my name is heather.
my pronouns are they/them.
this is my 6 year old dog Rue.
I graduated from the Cosmetology program at Aveda Institute Victoria in 2013 and worked full-time at a downtown salon for four years. In September 2017, I decided to pursue my Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Victoria.
During the Pandemic, I have returned to doing hair full time out of my home. My passion lies in holding space for people to come and feel heard and celebrated. I love hearing people’s stories and co-creating an experience where you can leave feeling cared for. I am grateful to be able to offer a private one-on-one space for your hair appointment.
In my off hours I enjoy going on walks with my pal Rue, spending time with the people I love, listening to music, watching films and tv shows, seeing live performance art, eating delicious food, hanging out in coffee shops, and working on various crafting projects.
I look forward to meeting you!
<about hiatus>
hiatus hair co. was born out of my passion for creativity and community!
It is important to me that you feel as comfortable as possible during your visit! I know that getting your hair done can be a challenging and vulnerable experience to navigate. I want to support your emotional and physical well being as best I can during your visit. Please let me know how I can best accommodate you!
I believe that honouring the lands that I live, work, and play on, is part of decolonizing and healing as a community. I am committed to contributing to my community in a positive way and to reducing environmental impacts as much as possible at hiatus hair co.
hiatus hair co. is a Green Circle Certified Sustainable Salon, meaning all of the salon waste is given a new life! You can learn more about this program here.
Mostly Davines A New Colour, Pulp Riot, Olaplaex, and Loma products are used in the studio.
